Tilbury travelled the long distance up the A12 to face league Champions Lowestoft Town in the last game of the 2009/2010 league season on Saturday.
A real carnival atmosphere awaited the Tilbury Team bus as the many Lowestoft fans were making their way to the ground dressed in blue and white for the occasion.
The hosts kicked off but it wasn't until the 13th minute that the first chance presented itself – Lowestoft's Joe Francis broke through the Tilbury defence, Daniel Smith's last minute challenge unbalanced Francis just before the powerful front man was about to shoot from close range.
24 minute gone, Lowestoft looked the more composed, Matt Nolan on to the ball sent across goal and at the back post nods just wide.
The Dockers looked lively down the left, Joe Keith draws the Lowestoft defence out before sending Nathan Gordon free into the box, Gordon slams the ball goal-bound but just goes inches past the post.
31 minutes and Gordon once more, this time the pacey striker goes solely into the 18 yard area and skipped past a challenge by Neil Plaskett and just prior to his shot Matt Halliday blocks and takes the sting out of the ball as it goes out for a Tilbury corner.
44 minutes - Jarred Small and Gordon on the same wave length as Small unleashes Gordon just on the outskirts of the box, but Gordon's shot is well dealt with by Lowestoft's keeper Andy Reynolds.
Match official Mr Artis signals 2 minutes injury time which is enough time for Lowestoft to take the lead. The ball driven in on goal with pace sees Andy Hall block the shot but rebounds out into the path of Dale Crockrill who drills the ball into the net, 1-0 at the break.
The second period and Lowestoft take control of the game as they extend their lead, Gary McGee does well to shake off a challenge by Glen Golby then breaks free into the box, noticing Andy Hall off his line McGee lobs the stranded keeper to make the score 2-0 in the 65th minute.
74th minute and further woe for the Dockers as Matt Nolan scored from inside the box to make the score 3-0 to Lowestoft.
The many Traveling Tilbury supporters remain in good voice and continue to get behind the Dockers and join in the party atmosphere.
As the clock ticked down the Lowestoft minds quickly turn to the pending celebrations that await the Lowestoft players at the end of the game. Mr. Artis signals game over and the party begins for the Lowestoft team who richly deserve their title after leading for much, if not most of the league Season.
The presentation of the Ryman League Division One Trophy was presented to Club Captain Jamie Godbold by Ryman League Chairman Alan Turvey.
Tilbury Football Club would like to wish the good people of Lowestoft Town FC all the very best for the coming Season and offer our sincere congratulations for being such worthy Winners of the League Title this season.
